I've only recently started getting into essential oils, but so far I've really been enjoying them! Curt and I now sleep with a diffuser every night and I love the relaxing scent that wafts through our room. I was sick a few weeks ago and used essential oils to help combat my terrible cold. I added several drops of Saje's Immune diffuser blend to my detox baths, and also added a few drops to some jojoba oil to rub on my chest before I went to sleep. The oils definitely helped me when I was feeling miserable and I was able to get over my cold without any over-the-counter meds!
By far, the prettiest way to get the benefits from essential oils is in the form of a necklace! I gifted this gorgeous Saje essential oil diffuser necklace to a friend for Christmas and after the holidays, I had to pick one up for myself too. The style of the necklace is beautiful; it's a longer sterling silver chain with a sterling silver locket-style pendant. Saje offers four different styles of pendant, but I chose the Optimistic Oval for both my friend and myself. I love the shape and intricate cut-outs, and it kind of reminds me of a Fabergé egg.
When you purchase the necklace, it comes with five tiny pads to "carry" the essential oil. You add a couple drops of oil to one of the pads, place it inside the pendant, and enjoy the oily benefits all day! I find that I only need to add new drops to the pad every couple days, depending on how strong of a scent I want. The necklace also comes in a little bag which is great for when you are traveling, and you can also use it for cleaning and polishing the chain and pendant.
A necklace is a great option for diffusing oils during the day without having to apply them directly on your skin. One of my favorite essential oil blends is called Liquid Sunshine, which is made up of grapefruit, bergamot, orange, lime, and mandarin red. The scent is fresh and uplifting, but some citrus oils are photosensitive and can react to the sun, making me wary of applying them to my skin. With the necklace though, I can breathe in the wonderful citrucy scent without worry, and it also acts like a natural perfume around your neck!
I'm so happy I treated myself to this necklace and it's been the source of several compliments. People are always taken aback when I tell them more about it and have them smell it!
And because it's always good to change up the jewelry once in a while, I'm planning an equally beautiful DIY version of an essential oil necklace sometime in the future!
What's your favorite essential oil or blend? Do you diffuse oils for a particular ailment or for the pleasant scent?
